The Safari Collection’s “Giraffe Manor” is an exclusive boutique hotel just outside Nairobi that will transport you back to how Kenya looked in the 1930s. The ivy-covered, brick colonial-era mansion, modeled on a Scottish hunting lodge, is situated on 12 acres of private land in an indigenous forest that measures 140 acres.

The hotel’s twelve rooms can accommodate up to 29 guests, and customized itineraries can include activities like hot air balloon rides and visits to the local villages. While the manor does not have a fitness room or a swimming pool, it does offer a unique experience for its guests.

“Giraffe Manor” is one of the most iconic hotels in the world, as it is home to a herd of Rothschild giraffes. Although these are wild giraffes, they may visit the manor morning and evening. If you are sitting near a window while enjoying your breakfast, you might find a giraffe poking its long neck into the window in search of treats.

The giraffes are very friendly as they are accustomed to interacting with the various guests. When they crane their necks into your window they do expect to receive some treats from you. You might find one or two giraffes waiting outside your bedroom balcony window for a snack when you wake up in the morning.

The Safari Collection is all about sustainability and conservation, so “Giraffe Manor” exists not only as a tourist draw but also as a place to care for the area’s Rothschild giraffes, which are an endangered species.

“Giraffe Manor” can be booked as a complete safari with The Safari Collection or booked for the night ($620 per person), and is family-friendly.
