As if a trip to the Maldives were not exotic enough, there’s a new unique accommodation on the island of Finolhu in Baa Atoll that’s sure to become a bucket list destination. Finolhu draws hundreds of visitors every year to its retro-chic, luxury resort complete with overwater bungalows, famed “1 OAK Beach Club” and popular “Fish & Crab Shack Restaurant.” Now, there is another room to book, and it arguably has the best view in the Maldives – the “Beach Bubble” Tent.
Finolhu “Beach Bubble” Tent is located on a secluded part of the 1.5-kilometer (0.93-mile) sandpit far from the buzz and noise of other parts of the island. The “Beach Bubble” Tent, as the name implies, is a bubble-shaped, transparent, inflatable tent that encloses a luxurious hotel room. From the comfort of the four-poster bed or oversize wingback chair, guests can relax under the stars while listening to vintage records. The bubble is air-conditioned and even has WiFi. An adjacent bubble houses the bathroom, which is accessible via a zipper door from the central bubble.

Glamping – or glamorous camping – has been on the rise in recent years, as travelers want to be close to nature without sacrificing the comforts of high-end hotels. However, this tent takes glamping to a new level of glamour. It can only be booked for a one night, sunset to sunrise, “Dream Eclipse” experience. The experience begins with a private beach BBQ and concludes with breakfast the next day on the water’s edge. The cost for the “Dream Eclipse” experience starts at $600 per couple.
The bubble was designed by Spanish firm “Eye in the Sky,” which specializes in bubble tents, and was added to Finolhu by The Small Maldives Island Co, the firm that manages the luxury resorts Finolhu and Amilla Fushi. Visit the “Beach Bubble” Tent’s official website to book what is sure to be an unforgettable night.
