In his recently published book, titled “The World’s Most Beautiful Libraries,” Italian photographer Massimo Listri invites bibliophiles to a wonderful photographic journey to some of the most extraordinary libraries in the world.
Listri’s photos are accompanied by texts written by Georg Ruppelt and Elisabeth Sladek providing historical background on each library. “With meticulous descriptions accompanying each featured library, we learn not only of the libraries’ astonishing holdings—from which highlights are illustrated—but also of their often lively, turbulent, or controversial pasts,” the publication’s description on the TASCHEN website reads.
The 560-page tome of Massimo Listri, published by TASCHEN in English, French and German, pays homage to some of the most beautiful temples of learning around the world, such as the Bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève in Paris, France, and the Klosterbibliothek Metten in Metten, Germany, while it is available for purchase on the TASCHEN website and Amazon.
